Hi, I'm Nick, but you can call me Chewie! I love all things music, and that led me to find my passion for photography.
From an early age, I was always enamored with music. From getting a drum set before I could read, to carrying a portable CD player with me in school since I wasn't allowed to have an iPod or smart phone, to performing in bands on my own time, my entire life has revolved around music.
While in college at Seton Hall, I was heavily involved in the school's radio station WSOU (you can find more about my involvement at the station here) which led me to a lot of things like jobs, but also by pure accident my passion for concert photography.
While tagging along to what was supposed to be an interview with the band Alestorm, I ended up getting handed a photo pass with only my (very poor quality) phone camera at my disposal. Since then I've made drastic changes to my camera gear, adding to the quality of my pictures with each addition.
While upgrading my gear, I've also increased my portfolio to include smaller, local artists such as Downswing and Ghostwreck, as well as international headliners such as Anthrax and Parkway Drive.
At the moment, a majority of my work is self-initiated, either by applying for passes or sending emails to my contacts. Typically I am taking pictures on behalf of one of the two radio stations I currently work for, 105.5 WDHA and Overkill Radio, but occasionally bring my gear to smaller local events in basements or dive bars just for the fun of it.
While I may usually work on behalf of a radio station and take pictures of bands that are really "doing the thing", that doesn't mean I am unreachable! I am always excited and interested in seeing new bands, whether at local showcases, in a basement, a VFW, or anywhere else, and I'm always up to bring the gear out with me.
